There are two scenarios were built: a thrift inner super car like the Volkswagen Up, and a low-cost option for the growing market. And whether the product is the research and development should also aim to help Mazda meet strict European standards on emissions.

Therefore, the 2nd selection can puts Mazda progress on the development in the market in Southeast Asia with a cheap compact car. One part of the study can be calculated to a reasonable agreement with another manufacturer, like deal that Toyota had with PSA Peugeot Citroen for the three products produced in the Czech Republic is the Aygo, 107 and C1.

In fact, Mazda is looking for partners with reasonable labor costs or incentives from the government moves to reduce costs, with the potential to produce in Indonesia.

Mazda potential partners includes Fiat Group, which has a strong link with Mazda in the development of an Alfa Romeo convertible and the next-generation MX-5 around 2014. Besides Ford, the company has Fiesta 2002 share structure with the Mazda2.

However, Mazda has the capability of design and technology in the case of "alone" if necessary.
