Mitsubishi wants to bring on several shows already shown a prototype plug-in hybrid version of the Outlander during the year 2013 on the market. At the Paris Motor Show 2012 (27 September to 14 October) celebrates the world premiere production version. The Outlander plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) is based on the new-generation Outlander, which is sold from autumn 2012. The plug-in hybrid drive has been involved from the outset in the development platform of the new Mitsubishi Outlander.
Three engines
The Mitsubishi Outlander is the first PHEV plug-in hybrid production car with permanent four-wheel drive. The system consists of an electric motor at the front and rear axle and a gasoline engine. The latter produces electrical energy via a generator, but temporary help directly with the drive. The concept provides for three modes. In EV mode, the SUV has a four-wheel drive by two electric motors. In serial mode, the propulsion arises same way, but here also operates the internal combustion engine as a supplier of electrical energy. In parallel mode, finally, there is also an electric four-wheel drive on the two electric motors, which is headed but the engine at higher speeds boost.
50 kilometers electrically clean?
The scope Mitsubishi says that the plug-in system allows more than 800 kilometers. For the pure electric range and the nature of the batteries is silent you off. Shown at the Geneva Motor Show study was to create 50 km in pure electric mode. In CO2 emissions, the Japanese seek out a target of less than 50 grams per kilometer. It should be noted that consumption depends greatly on the type of use - after all, is burned with all-electric driving at all out of gas.
